Futures Prop Firms That Allow Overnight Holding (2026): Can You Swing Trade a Funded Account?
PickMyFuturesProp ยท 2026-09-27
Almost no futures prop firm lets you hold overnight. We checked all 21 firms' official rules: the three that allow it, the exact daily close time at every other firm, and what 'overnight trading' really means.
If you want to swing trade futures with a prop firm, the short answer is: almost nowhere lets you. We checked the official rules of all 21 firms we track, and only three allow any overnight holding at all, each with limits.
One thing trips people up first. Many firms say you can trade "overnight." They mean you can trade the overnight session (the Globex evening open, around 6 PM ET). You still have to be flat before the daily close. Holding a position from one trading day into the next is a different thing, and that's what almost every firm bans.
The firms that allow overnight holding
Elite Trader Funding: Diamond Hands and Direct to Funded. These are the only two ETF accounts that can hold through the close and over the weekend, per ETF's help center (September 2026). Every other ETF plan must close 1 minute before the market close. Diamond Hands is a 100K monthly evaluation built for this: end-of-day drawdown, a $5,000 target, a $1,500 daily loss limit and a 2-mini position cap. It's $39.70 for the first month with ETF's current 90% promo, then list price. Direct to Funded skips the evaluation for a one-time fee. Elite Trader Funding review
The5ers: the Swing plan. The5ers' Swing plan lets you hold a reduced position overnight; its overnight FAQ (July 2026) says 1 mini or 10 micros. The Day Trade plan can't hold overnight, and neither plan allows weekend holding. The5ers Futures review
Leeloo Trading: evaluations only. Leeloo lets evaluation (Practice) accounts hold through the close. Funded (Performance) accounts must be flat 15 minutes before the close, with one exception: Investor Performance accounts may hold up to 3 micros. Leeloo's own help pages word this differently in two places, so confirm with them before relying on it. Leeloo Trading review
Everyone else: flat by the close
These firms all require you to close every position before the end of the trading day, in the evaluation and once funded. Times are as each firm states them:
- Topstep: 3:10 PM CT, every weekday
- FundedNext Futures: 3:10 PM CT, no weekend holding
- OneUp Trader: 3:15 PM CT
- Earn2Trade: 3:50 PM CT
- Goat Funded Futures: positions auto-closed at 3:55 PM CT, no weekend holding
- Bulenox: 3:59 PM CT
- My Funded Futures: auto-closed at 4:10 PM ET
- Top One Futures: 4:10 PM EST, no weekend trading
- FTMO Futures: nothing open past the end of the trading day
- Alpha Futures: before 4:20 PM EST
- Tradeify: 4:45 PM ET, no weekend holding (this includes Live accounts)
- Lucid Trading: 4:45 PM ET, Monday to Friday
- Funded Futures Family: 4:45 PM EST
- Funded Futures Network: 4:50 PM EST, and holding past it fails the account
- Futures Elite: 4:55 PM ET
- Take Profit Trader: auto-closed at 4:55 PM ET
- Apex Trader Funding: before 4:59 PM ET
- TradeDay: positions are auto-liquidated 10 minutes before the daily close
MFFU, Goat, Alpha, Take Profit Trader, TradeDay, Lucid and Funded Futures Family close open positions for you at the cutoff; Lucid, Funded Futures Family and TradeDay say that doesn't fail the account. At Funded Futures Network, holding past the close does fail the account.
Why prop firms ban overnight holding
Overnight positions can gap past your drawdown limit before you can react, and the firm carries that risk. Most futures funding is built for day traders, so the rules default to flat every day. The few overnight options come with tighter limits: smaller position caps (ETF Diamond Hands, The5ers Swing) or a single account size.
If you want to swing trade
- Want to hold overnight and over the weekend on a funded account? ETF Diamond Hands or Direct to Funded are the only options we found.
- Just overnight, with a small position? The5ers Swing.
- Only need to hold during the evaluation? Leeloo.
- Otherwise, pick a firm on its other rules, and plan to be flat by its close time. Compare them in the comparison tool or see best futures prop firms.
