PickMyFuturesProp ยท 2026-09-27
Which futures prop firms allow bots, algos and EAs? We checked the official rules of all 21 firms: who allows automation and on what conditions, who bans it, and who lets you copy trades across your own accounts.
Automated trading is one of the most confusing rules in futures funding. Some firms welcome bots, some ban them outright, and many allow them only if you built them yourself. We read the official rules of all 21 firms we track. Here's where each one stands (checked September 27, 2026).
Firms that allow automated trading
These allow bots, algos or EAs, usually with conditions. High-frequency trading (HFT) is banned almost everywhere, even at firms that allow automation.
- FundedNext Futures: allows EAs and trading bots in both the challenge and the funded account. Strategies that exploit the platform (latency abuse, order flooding) are banned. Review
- Lucid Trading: "automated trading systems and trade copiers are permitted." You're responsible for errors, and HFT is banned. Review
- Topstep: allowed, with conditions. Topstep won't help set it up and makes no exceptions for malfunctions; ultra-high-speed systems are banned. Review
- FTMO Futures: automated trading is permitted, but not HFT, latency arbitrage or anything that exploits the platform. Review
- Funded Futures Network: your own EA or algo running your own strategy is allowed. An HFT rule caps trades lasting 5 seconds or less at 30% of a session. Review
- Bulenox: bots, algorithms and trade copiers are permitted if you built them for your own use. Commercial, shared or rented bots are not, and connecting through a third-party API costs $100 a month. Review
- My Funded Futures: automated strategies tailored to your own settings are allowed, as long as they don't exploit the simulated fills. HFT is banned. Review
- Tradeify: personal bots are allowed if they're not HFT, you're the sole owner, and you don't run the same bot at another firm. Tradeify may ask for a live video of you starting it. Review
- TradeDay: your own automated system is allowed on its supported platforms (NinjaTrader, Tradovate, TradingView, Jigsaw, Quantower). Bots bought from a third party are banned, and so are strategies producing more than 200 trades a day. Review
- Goat Funded Futures: your own bots and EAs are allowed on the EOD, 1-Day-Pass, Flex and Instant Classic plans, but not on Daily Payouts or Instant Lite. Review
Firms that ban automated trading
- Apex Trader Funding: "No Automation or Algorithm Usage allowed."
- Alpha Futures: AI, bots and other automated trading are prohibited on every account type.
- Futures Elite: fully automated trading using AI or bots is not permitted.
- Take Profit Trader: bots and algorithmic execution tools are not permitted; trades must be placed by hand.
- Funded Futures Family: no bot or algorithmic trading.
- Top One Futures: EAs and bots are not allowed.
- The5ers Futures: algorithmic trading and HFT are forbidden.
- Leeloo Trading: any system that places or manages trades without your manual input is not allowed.
- Elite Trader Funding: no bots or automated strategies unless ETF authorizes it in writing; the only tools currently authorized are its approved trade copiers.
- OneUp Trader: its own blog says OneUp does not allow algo trading. Its help center only bans HFT and trades under 10 seconds, so ask OneUp if you're unsure.
Earn2Trade has no explicit bot rule in its help center. Its prohibited-conduct policy bans software that manipulates the trading environment or gives an unfair advantage, so check with Earn2Trade before running one.
Copy trading across your own accounts
A trade copier mirrors one account's trades into your other accounts. Most firms allow it between accounts you own, and every firm bans copying someone else's trades. The differences:
- Allowed on your own accounts: MFFU, Tradeify (all accounts must trade the same direction), Futures Elite, Lucid, FundedNext (including your own accounts at other firms), Apex (across your funded PAs), FTMO, Alpha, Bulenox, OneUp, Goat (Daily Payouts only copies to other Daily Payouts accounts).
- Approved copiers only: Take Profit Trader and Elite Trader Funding list specific approved copiers, such as Tradesyncer and the Replikanto compliance edition.
- With a cap: Topstep (up to $750K of buying power across funded accounts), Funded Futures Network (up to 5 accounts), Leeloo (up to 3 funded accounts), TradeDay (2 to 10 evaluation and funded sim accounts, or up to 5 Live accounts).
- Same program and size only: Top One Futures.
- 25K and 50K only, up to $75,000 combined: The5ers.
- Not allowed: Earn2Trade bans trade copiers on every program.
- Not stated: Funded Futures Family has no current copy-trading rule in its help center; it does ban hedging between accounts.
Which firm should an automated trader pick?
- Want the fewest strings attached: FundedNext Futures or Lucid.
- Run your own custom strategy on NinjaTrader or Tradovate: TradeDay, MFFU or Tradeify, all with conditions.
- Want an established name: Topstep, if you don't need help setting it up.
Whatever you run, keep it well away from HFT territory, and read the firm's current rule before connecting. See how the firms compare on everything else in our best futures prop firms ranking.
